Helen Davis was born in Chile, South America, mid century on the first Andean
foothill with the ocean on one side, and the mountains on the other.
Granddaughter of a clipper ship captain, she inherited a love for the
sea, and dreamed of living on an island.
She first came to the Virgin Islands in 1970, shortly after graduating
from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. Planning to stay six months,
she stayed almost seven years. Her paintings have been shown in
Alexandria, VA and on the coast of Maine, where she had a home for many
years.
Her work is included in private collections around the world. She now
lives on the quiet Spanish Virgin Island of Vieques with her husband and
son.
Her work reflects her love of the area, colors and often her sense of
humor.
